Pikes Peak Precision is hosting The ABP. Guest match director Lou Smith has put on a classic prone match with field match elements.
Come prepared to shoot with a rifle that is zeroed and Data On Previous Engagements (DOPE) out to 1200.
There will be Shooter Divisions and Trophies for the following:
Club Shooter: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place trophy’s
Lady’s: 1st place trophy
Youth: 1st place trophy
FNG: 1st place trophy
We are going to have an FNG “new shooters” division, which gets you 3 minutes per stage so there should be no worries finding targets or timing out. If you want to shoot for PRS points then you have to shoot in the Club Shooters division and shoot 2 minutes per stage. If you are not a new shooter (and we know who you are) you cannot volunteer yourself as one.
If you are shooting for PRS Club series points you must have a PRS regional membership which is $40 and available on the PRS website. This membership is not a requirement to participate.
The total round count is 76. If there is a tie for any of the trophies there will be a good old-fashioned shoot off. Abbreviated 5 round stages will be selected and shooters will shoot until someone hits more targets than the other or someone runs out of ammo.
You should bring a rear bag, a good bipod, and a 10 round magazine. You can get by without these or by borrowing them from other shooters but they will definitely help you if you bring your own. At all stages will you start with mag in, bolt back, looking through the scope at your first target and you will start shooting when the RO tells you to “Engage” your targets.
If you don’t have DOPE this would be a great opportunity for you to shoot at distance and ask experienced shooters to help you fix your ballistic computer so that it matches up with what you’re seeing “real world data” and then shoot again to verify that you got it figured out.
The average target distance is 730yds and the average target size is around 1.5MOA (subject to change).
